The Environment

Sobriety begins with mindset.

Encourage.

At The Vine House, we lift each other up; not beat each other down. It is important that we maintain a supportive and accepting atmosphere, respecting those around us - our thoughts, struggles, beliefs, and accomplishments. On the mother’s side of the home, encouragement and support is a must. Being a single mother is hard and having a support system (especially in the home) is key! Progress doesn’t thrive in a negative environment!

Contribute.

Our home functions as a family. It is primarily peer run, meaning, each woman plays a significant part in holding herself and her sisters accountable. There is no hierarchy in the home, ensuring that each woman has a say in decisions and keeping the home a safe, effective, and sober living environment. Each week there is a required house meeting to touch base, make decisions, and discuss what’s going well and what issues may need resolved. In a family, everyone must contribute.

Grow.

We are all here to better our lives and the lives we care for. Each member must be active in a recovery program. If you need assistance in finding one, please reach out to other members or program management. We must keep our eyes forward to move forward. In order to do this, we must remain persistent in our actions and mindset.

Maintain.

We are all accountable; for ourselves and even for our sisters in recovery. If we fall, it is important to come forward to ensure that the rest of the house maintains sobriety and a stable living environment. Likewise, if we find that another member has relapsed, it is important that we report it immediately. We must all work together to create a safe environment for ourselves, other women, and our children…this happens only if we ALL do our part.
